More than 150 art patrons attended the opening of the 92nd Annual Juried Exhibition at the San Antonio Art League & Museum (SAALM) on March 27. This diverse group of artistic expressions was derived from over 400 entries from artists all over Texas.

The juror, Leah Hardy, MFA, had a challenging task of selecting 66 pieces from the entries and designated 18 of those with awards totaling more than $12,000 presented at the opening.

“It is my hope that the viewer will appreciate the plethora of diverse artistic voices manifested in encaustics, assembled, fabricated or cast sculpture, collage, photographs, cut paper, watercolor, oil paint, and many other media,” Hardy commented.

"Merry-Tunes-Go-Round" by Marc Eisenberg

SAALM President, Dona LeCrone Walston, added, “San Antonio Art League and Museum’s 92nd Juried Exhibition includes artists from all over the state. The art is selected by an objective experienced judge from out of state.

The exhibit is celebrated by a great catalog featuring images of all the art in the exhibit. For the first time, the complete catalog is available online. However, a catalog cannot compete with seeing the art in person; it’s a high quality, creative exhibit well worth experiencing in person.”

The coveted Julian Onderdonk Purchase Award of $3,000 was awarded to Marc Eisenberg for his found object sculpture “Merry-Tunes-Go-Round.”
